For those just joining: I’m writing a book called Thinking Independence. The premise is simple. Every system you interact with — schools, media, marketing, politics, technology — was designed to make you dependent on borrowed thinking. Not as a side effect. As the business model. I’m calling the problem mindjacking, and the book gives you the tools to take your thinking back.

The feedback on Chapter 1 was direct and useful. Reviewers told me what worked, what didn’t, and where they lost interest. The term “mindjacking” landed. The two-skills framework was clear. The examples hit. A few things needed tightening — and they got tightened.

Now Chapter 2 is done. And I’d like you to read it and provide me some feedback.

What Chapter 2 Does

Chapter 1 named the problem: mindjacking — the gradual replacement of your own thinking with borrowed thinking, disguised as convenience.

Chapter 2 shows you how it happened.

Six systems — education, traditional media, marketing, politics, social media, and AI — all arrived at the same solution independently: your ability to evaluate is friction. Remove it.

The chapter walks through each one. Not as theory. Through stories I lived: a Department of Education meeting where I was shown the door for telling educators their system was failing, a hurricane where I watched a false narrative spread through credible-sounding sources, and a confession about the years I spent as a consultant helping boards not think.

That last part matters. I wasn’t always on the right side of this. I made good money running the same plays this book is teaching you to recognize. Chapter 2 is where I own that.

If You Haven’t Read Chapter 1

Start there. Chapter 2 builds directly on it.
